Leaders are Required to be above reproach and to set a good example for the flock!

Many Leaders are disqualified and bring reproach to the name of christ!

It is a requirement that they be Exposed!

The Price was too high

Jesus Christ paid far too high of a price for His church to sit idly by as wolves destroy His flock. Many within leadership do not fit the required criteria; they are often self-appointed, self-serving, abusive, and unfit.

Matthew 20:25-28
…“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Love Will Grow Cold

Jesus warned us that the love of many would grow cold. Not following the biblical instructions to hold corrupt leaders accountable is one of the reasons this is occurring. Take notice in the passages below that false prophets (corrupt leaders) arise, wickedness multiplies, and the love of most grows cold because of it.

Matthew 24:5
“For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”

Matthew 24:10-12
“At that time many will fall away and will betray and hate one another, and many false prophets will arise and deceive many. Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”

the requirements are clear

The requirements for those in leadership are clearly layed out in both of the passages below. To be “above reproach” is the first and foremost requirement. To be above reproach means you are above being reasonably charged with sin or misconduct in the first place. It means the level of integrity you walk in is beyond question. Leaders are to live a life that is an example to the flock.

1 Timothy 3:2: “An overseer must be above reproach . . .”

Titus 1:5–7: “This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might . . . appoint elders in every town as I directed you — if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach ….”

Dealing with leaders in sin

1 Timothy 5:19-21 Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses. As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.

Leaders are often the most highly visible representatives of Christ within the community. They must be above reproach, and their lives are open to public scrutiny. Leaders in sin bring reproach upon the name and character of Christ, and that sin will very often also manifest in the flock. Leaders are held to a much higher standard than others within the body. When leaders persist in sin they must be corrected before all, exposed, and often may need removed.

Jesus Told Us How

Jesus taught us how to handle issues among one another, but many leaders ignore His words, rarely teach them, and even feel they are above them. Instead the hirelings often use the platform to injure and maim His sheep. In most cases those who have been harmed have nowhere to turn, and that is one of the primary reasons for this ministry. We will bring accountability where there is none.

Matthew 18:15-18
“If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The Bible MANDATES that we expose wicked leaders!

The Bible MANDATES that we expose wickedness, especially within church leadership! Paul made it very clear in 1 Tim 5:21 that he was charging you and me with the responsibility of holding elders (leaders) accountable for unrepentant sin. When Paul wrote words of rebuke to churches, it was most always to the citywide church and rarely to an individual congregation. On occasion he also told them to pass those letters along so the other churches would know what was going on. Paul’s intent was to protect the flock! 1 Tim 5:21I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to maintain these principles without bias, and to do nothing out of partiality. Where do we go from here? Distinctions MUST be drawn between gossip, slander, and the biblical requirement to examine and expose certain people, or you end up in error and wickedness will abound!
